This station is about 5 1/2 river miles above the Route 50 bridge at Vienna. The river at this station was about 250 yards wide. Narrow beds of emergent aquatic reeds were present along both banks. Behind these the shore was tree lined; these trees reached the waters edge at the lower limits of the station on both sides. At the lower end of the right bank side was a shallow inlet with a series of stumps embedded in the mud. On the lower left was an area of peat banks and a very extensive soft mud flat was present along the left bank. This was just under water at low tide.
