This station was located on a transect across the Savannah River in Burke County, Georgia and Aiken County, South Carolina at Mile 160.7 (formerly Mile 175). The area included all of the pilings (#78) on the left bank and the opposite area on the right bank. Sandy beach areas were found between the pilings. The right bank was a gentle slope; at its lower boundary, was a stone rip-rap and a small stream entering the river. The station was on a straight stretch of the river. (1972 & 1989 reports.) The 1980 report adds: The station was approximately 1.25 mi downstream (southeast) from Shell Bluff Landing, Burke County, Georgia, and Aiken County, South Carolina. The area was roughly 200 m long.
