This station began about a mile downstream from Station 2 (Station 2 was 2 1/2 miles downstream from the bridge on Route 70, immediately below the outfall of the steam plant retention pond.) and extended to the mouth of Trace Creek along the right side of the channel. The right bank was alternately mud and clay. The left side of the station was again bounded by a small island. The upstreams end had several muddy sloughs. The bottom was gravelly sand covered with a thin layer of mud. Vegetation along the right bank was an association of buttonbush and honeysuckle with a considerable growth of Carex along the edge. Willows and honeysuckle covered about half the island. Diatom blooms were conspicuous in the shallow water. (1955, 1958 & 1964 reports.)
