      NEON domain: not applicable
   state: Louisiana (LA)
This station was located on the Reserve Canal, which drains into Lake Maurepas. It included both banks and the bottom of the Reserve Canal for a distance of about a 100 yards between the Cross Canal and the Texaco pipeline. The water was dark in color, approximately 14 feet deep at the center, and had no appreciable current. The shore was lined with cypress, and the roots and stumps of the trees extended into the water to a depth of about 5 feet. Aquatic vegetation was abundant and interspersed among the roots and stumps. The bottom of the canal was generally clear of sticks and debris. (1963 & 1968 reports.) A few water hyacinths were present. (1973 report.)
