| Station 6 on Wolf Creek was a very broad, shallow station. The area studied extended both above and below the bridge. The trees on the bank consisted mainly of maple, ash, and sycamore. A variety of herbs existed on the immediate banks. In the pool area near the lower end of the station a grassy, flat floodplain extended along the left bank. The bed of the stream presented many diverse habitats, since pools as well as riffles were present within the area studied. Also, there was a mixture of sand, silt, gravel, and rooted beds of Potamogeton. This area received a considerable amount of partially treated and untreated sewage from homes, farms, and small villages as indicated by the heavy growths of Potamogeton. (1967 report.) |
