| This station was on Cedar Creek, Crisp County, Georgia, near the Georgia Route 257 bridge. The station extended upstream for 320 m (1050 ft) from the bridge and was narrow and heavily shaded throughout most of this reach. A swampy area surrounded the stream and leaves and branches were common in the stream. Emergent rooted aquatic plants and cypress trees were present within the station limits. The upper part of the station consisted of relatively wide (about 10 m [33 ft]) meanders with slow current and slit-sand substrates. This flowed into a long, still backwater from a beaver dam. Below the beaver dam, the stream was narrow (about 3-5 m [10-16 ft]),shallow, braided and relatively fast, with alternate patches of clean sand and silt-sand-detrital substrates. (1983 report.) |
