| Location: In Hawkins County, Tennessee, southwest of Churchill, at the McPheeter Bend bridge. Station 6A was approximately three miles downstream from the original Station 6 (1965). Higher water in 1974 prevented the use of the original station. Description: The river was about 300 feet wide with slow to moderate current and a depth of two to six feet. At the upper limit of the station, an area of logs and trash was caught on the supports at the left bank end of the bridge. The upper left bank area was a mud bank and a muddy pool was present at the lower left bank area. A rocky beach and a riffle area was located between the muddy pool and mud bank. Fontinalis and Potamogeton were growing in the riffle. (1974 & 1980 report.) |
